Setup your stats – WP Tip #003

Numbers aren't everything, but they do help you measure how well you're doing and where you need to adjust. You should be tracking your web traffic, and it is rather simple to do this.

You don't have to spend a lot of time looking at your numbers, but at the very least, you should establish a baseline early on when you've setup your site so that you can see how your traffic is doing over time. Then check out how you're doing every week or so.

Be sure to setup an web traffic analytics program to give you statistics on your blog. WordPress.com statistics, provided by Jetpack or Google Analytics can help. There are plugins to help you install the code on your site so you can see how your traffic is doing.

To use Google Analytics, check out this plugin: Yoast's Google Analytics for WordPress.
To use WordPress.com stats, you'll need a WordPress.com account and then install the versatile Jetpack plugin by Automattic.
