Manage multiple WordPress installations from one place

In this post I show you how to manage all your WordPress websites from within one dashboard. It is very useful when you need to do updates across all the websites. Obviously this is a huge timesaver.

Besides the updating feature, the utility does a lot of work to help you publish posts to multiple sites, update Themes, links and pages. Oh yeah and did I mention that it does backups for you as well. It's amazing.

  3. Great tool! It would be such a timesaver! How do you feel about it being safe. If someone hacks into one of your blogs, can they get into all of them?

    1. Well, if someone hacks into one of the blogs, no they can’t hack the rest. If they were to break into my account with managewp then they could do some damage. I try to keep that password safe and hopefully never happens. Always have a backup and take preventive measures so this doesn’t happen.

    1. Thanks for the kind words Jeanette! It’s a work in progress but I think it does the trick for now, its Genesis based with a skin I really like. I have some stuff to tweak as time allows, but it does the trick for now.

  5. Actually .. that IS a pretty cool tool!

    However .. how does it work with multisites? I have about 6 sites that when I upgrade, I have to go in and manually update the entire network of blogs associated with that single install, sometimes as much as 50 sites … does this tool cover that?

    1. Isn’t it!?I thought it was pretty cool too, lots of Prelovac’s plugins are awesome too. I have not had a chance to try it against a multisite installation yet, I will shoot Vladimir an email and see what he says about that. And I think it’s an excellent question… but isn’t one of WordPress’ MU features that you can update all the networked blogs with one update?

      Or do you mean to tell me that you have 50 separate MU sites?

I’ve got 6 sites on wpMU/multisite … one has 54, another 33, another 13 sites .. and then the other I just have either 1 site but as a network so I can use the /blog/ feature and keep the root .. or a small hand full of sites for testing. You have to update MU sites pretty much like normal blogs … first review and update plugins, then update the wordpress. THEN there is that single update that updates all the blogs in the MU site and update MysQL etc.

        It’s the same logic as using the managewp site. It’s not really a big deal to upgrade sites anymore with one click .. with MU sites it’s two clicks. However – if I upgrade 6 multisites with 1 click instead of 12 clicks it’s sort of a saving, plus I usually upgrade them ‘whenever I log into them next’ routine.

    1. Hi Sukhraj, thanks for the kind words. Your videos are cool too, just different topics. It’s all good! I hope you can use this on your WP blogs, it’s been very useful to me. I’ve added a bunch more sites that I manage and i wonder how I ever lived without it.

  8. Hi Oscar and thanks for the great review.

    You mention a case when upgrading a plugin would break your site – there is the “Ignore” link next to each upgradable plugin so you can add it to your ignore list for that site and just hit “Upgrade all” in future without worrying.

    1. First off, Thank you Vladimir for putting this tool out and letting us take it out for a spin. Thanks for the tip on the ignore link, I think that will be very helpful. Some of the plugins I use definitely need hand-holding so I would use this option, but luckily its only a handful of plugins that have this problem. I really like this tool man, and some of the hidden gems that i didn’t even cover are awesome too.
